Kaelon Black looks like a solid backup to McCaffrey in Week 1.

Each week throughout the season PDW will be posting a list of those players worth targeting on your weekly waiver wire. These lists will be made up from PDW contributors as well as fantasy partner content. Please check back weekly for the hot pickups. Below are players to target going into Week 2.

Players to Add

Caleb Douglas (WR, Miami Dolphins) The Miami passing offense was one of the biggest question marks heading into the year, but Week 1 gave us some great clarity on who the go-to guy might be. Enter Caleb Douglas. Available in over 80% of leagues, Douglas led the charge against Las Vegas, turning heavy involvement into 5 catches for 94 yards. We’re dealing with the oldest adage in fantasy football here: someone has to catch passes. Douglas looks like he's locked into that role for Miami, making him our priority waiver claim of the week if you're looking to inject some immediate upside into your wide receiver corps.

Kaelon Black (RB, San Francisco 49ers) If you rosters-watched San Francisco’s opening game, you saw Kaelon Black logging 14 carries and acting as a major component of the 49ers' offensive game plan. There were questions all offseason about how the backfield touches would shake out behind Christian McCaffrey, but Black has firmly put himself in the driver's seat for high-value backup work. Handcuffs with this kind of standalone involvement—and league-winning upside if injury strikes the starter—do not sit on waivers long. Go secure him immediately if your league is lagging behind.

Dontayvion Wicks (WR, Philadelphia Eagles) The training camp hype was real, and it translated directly to the field in Week 1. Wicks has quickly established a strong rapport with Jalen Hurts, capping off his Sunday performance with a highlight-reel touchdown and a 64-yard bomb. He has cleanly carved out the WR2 role in Philadelphia, giving him weekly vertical upside in one of the league's most potent offenses. If you need a high-ceiling ceiling play to stash on your bench, Wicks is your guy.

Devaughn Vele (WR, New Orleans Saints) Vele put together a stellar opening act for New Orleans, pulling in 7 receptions for 69 yards and a score. While rookie Jordyn Tyson looms large on the horizon and could eventually muddy up target shares, Vele’s immediate floor in PPR formats is undeniable. He’s a fantastic short-term plug-and-play option if you took a hit on injuries or underperformances during the opening slate of games.

Antonio Williams (WR, Washington Commanders) The rookie wideout turned heads in Week 1, earning a surprisingly robust role that culminated in 4 catches for 64 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown. Washington’s offense is looking for dynamic pieces to step up alongside their core weapons, and Williams seized his opportunity right out of the gate. Expect his role to expand as the season progresses, making him a prime target to stash before the rest of your league catches on.

Houston Texans D/ST If you stream defenses based on early-season context, look toward Houston’s upcoming matchup. They flashed disruptive traits in Week 1, and targeting units facing turnover-prone or struggling offensive lines is the easiest way to buy yourself an extra 10-to-15 fantasy points without breaking your FAAB bank.
